Welcome To B.Voc. Department
Manghanmal Udharam College of Commerce was started on 18th July 1983. With the changing educational ecosystem the college felt that skill based education must be imparted to the students. This prompted us to introduce the National Skills Qualifications Framework promoted B.Voc in Retail Management. Retail Management is introduced keeping in view the requirements of the students in this business suburb of Pune.
It will be an attempt of our college to take these students to a level unmatched by any academic institution imparting similar education.

Teaching Methods Adopted
The B.Voc course has as its part theory as well as practical component of training. The theory would be taught in a brick and mortar structure. The method would be interacting with the students in such a way that this interaction makes them aware of the concepts in theory and helps them analyse those concepts. Majority of the first and second semester would be classroom based learning. This would equip the students to take internship from the third semester.
A course such as this leaves a lot of scope for demonstrating and teaching. Learning by seeing how one does an activity is the idea behind this. Retail management has several sub topics in its ambit which could help students understand the concept by learning it from the one who actually did it for him/her.
Classroom discussion helps every student to participate in academic exchange. Ideas that need expression be shared on a platform like this where a teacher initiates a discussion and then leaves it for the students to carry it forward. Ideas over a topic are countered giving rise to an improved idea. This continues until something that is totally innovative and fool proof emerges.
There is no learning such as learning by doing. This may not completely be left for the learner to do. Once a theory component of a paper is done, the teachers would help students with ideas on experiential learning. This could be the students going to retail stores and actually learning various nuances of retailing.
The students would be interning and the institute would encourage them to do so at the earliest. The students when have completed the number of hours reserved for experiential learning will prepare a report and give a presentation on their experiences.
The college would get into collaboration with both the industry as well as academic institutions that are in retail management. The collaboration would take form of guest lectures by eminent speakers from the industry and academia. It would also involve our students giving field visits and actually interning with them.
These students would be taught the entire M.S. office and primarily power point, excel and word. Needless to say that the teachers would be using these tools while they even teach the regular courses to the students. Retail management specific IT tools would be taught to them as and when needed.
